Stone Age Workshop
We all had an amazing session with Ro from Woodmatters, stepping back in time to learn what the Stone Age would have been like in Cumbria. This linked closely to our history topic and we had the opportunity to handle artefacts including axe heads from the Stone Age axe factory in the Langdale valley. First, we made a timeline using artefacts from the Paleolithic (Old Stone Age) up to the current day. Next, we learnt how to make our own Stone Age axes, learning how tools were used. Finally, we learnt more about the Stone Age people as hunter-gatherers, looking at farming and how they would have used clues such as droppings and animal tracks to hunt. Y3 are extremely grateful to the Friends of Heron Hill, who kindly funded this enrichment experience.
